Space shuttles that are created for the US space program are manufactured by Drax Industries, owned by Hugo Drax. Drax uses six Moonraker shuttles to carry his 'master race' to a city orbiting the Earth where he plans to kill off the human race below, and re-populate it with the master race.

After Bond manages to infiltrate Drax's Brazilian complex, and narrowly escape from being fried underneath Moonraker 5 when it takes off, he commandeers Moonraker 6 along with Dr Holly Goodhead allowing them transportation to Drax's space city.

After putting a stop to Drax's world destruction plans and killing Drax by sending him out of an airlock, Bond and Dr Goodhead use Drax's personal shuttle Moonraker 5, armed with a laser to destroy the three globes that were fired at the Earth. After completing their mission they decide to orbit the world one more time, Bond style. §
