This hot-air balloon clearly decorated with the Union Jack flag is James Bonds transportation into Kamal Khans palace. Bond asks Q if he can actually pilot the balloon, to which Q replies, “It goes by hot air”, Bond then quips “Oh then you can!”
Armed with television cameras and small monitors, this allows Bond and Q to view the fight taking place below. Bond is also able to see Kamal Khan escaping with Octopussy through images transmitted from the balloon to his Liquid Crystal Display watch. When Q accidentally lands the balloon knocking out one of Kamal’s henchmen, he is surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women where he remarks amusingly “Cut it out! Maybe later” §
