Visuals
Robert Brownjohn returns once again to further improve upon techniques he previously used in the From Russia With Love title sequence. This time we see actress Margaret Nolan painted head-to-toe in gold, much like that of Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson seen in the film. However this time rather than simple credits, whole scenes from the film are projected onto Ms. Nolan's golden body, expertly making use of her features to tie into what is being shown at the time.
There is certainly a different feel about the Goldfinger title sequence than the two previous films however. While the classy, sexy visuals do look interesting, combined with the feel of the title theme, there is also a feeling of coldness and detachment in the way they are portrayed. Equally for the first time the main villain of the film is introduced before that of James Bond, indicating the danger and trepidation to follow.
Theme
For the title theme for Goldfinger », up steps the famous Shirley Bassey who performs one of the more famous songs in the series. After the more romantic tones of Matt Munro In From Russia With Love, this bold, brassy number with its horns and unmistakable tune starts with a bang and builds up to that iconic big finish. The song excellently creates intrigue and danger for one of the better villains in the series, with the now Dame Shirley belting out the song with all the strength she can muster.
The single of Goldfinger ranked highly in the charts of many countries across the world, including selling over a million copies in the USA and reaching number one in Japan. However back in the UK, it only managing to reach number 21 at its peak.
Lyrics
Goldfinger. He's the man, the man with the midas touch. A spider's touch, such a cold finger, beckons you to enter his web of sin, but don't go in.
Golden words he will pour in your ear, but his lies can't disguise what you fear, for a golden girl knows when he's kissed her, it's the kiss of death from Mr Goldfinger. Pretty girl, beware of this heart of gold, this heart is cold.

He loves only gold. Only gold. He loves gold. He loves only gold. Only gold. He loves, gold! §
