Review
Diamonds Are Forever marks Sean Connery's return to Bond, and once again John Barry is on the case for the Diamonds Are Forever soundtrack ». Shirley Bassey returns once more to sing the Diamonds Are Forever title theme, reiterating her commanding presence with this powerful song. While there are still the usual types of tracks on the album, there are a number of more ambient, 'lounge' music tracks which depending on personal opinion either detract or improve the soundtrack.
That said '007 and Counting', 'Gunbarrel And Manhunt' and 'Following The Diamonds' are exciting with also the inclusion of the 007 theme. The beginning of the unusual 'Slumber Inc' draws you into a false sense of security, before it heats up (literally!) putting you in Bond's place as he becomes increasingly worried about being cremated alive.
This re-mastered edition also comes complete with additional and alternative cues all together in one track used throughout the film. While not quite up to the level of On Her Majesty's Service or previous Barry titles, the Diamonds Are Forever album still offers some good tracks.
