This briefcase was ordinary in every way apart from one - it contained a secret compartment. When Bond presses a button on the briefcase a section appears containing quite a large amount of explosives. Bond attaches the magnetic package to a radar system, but before he can complete his mission he is captured.

Bond sees two gadgets being tested whilst in Q’s lab. Q demonstrates to Bond how a piece or rope can be elevated using remote control, but the device is not perfected yet. Smithers demonstrates to Bond his door knocker that once ‘knocked’ sends it’s door flying open crushing anyone standing in front of the door.

Q delicates places a extremely sensitive homing device inside Bond’s Fabergé egg, that allows Bond to listen to Kamal Khan’s and General Orlov’s plans whilst at Kamal’s palace.

Q gives Bond this 18 carat gold fountain pen that contains a mixture of concentrated nitric and hydrochloric acid that he assures Bond will dissolve all metals. Bond uses the pen to escape from his cell in Kamal Khan’s palace. He uses the pens other feature by taking the top of to reveal an earpiece for the Fabergé egg listening device.

This digital watch provided a tracker for the homing device planted in the Fabergé egg. Bond uses this watch on numerous occasions throughout Octopussy to keep an eye on the location of the egg.


Octopussy gadgets: liquid crystal display watch

This was a state-of-the-art Liquid Crystal TV watch. Q provides Bond with this watch in his lab. Bond uses the watch twice, once in Q’s lab to admire one of Q’s female assistants and with help from Q’s cameras above Kamal’s palace, Q sees Kamal and Octopussy leaving the palace through a secret ‘escape hatch’. This information is relayed to 007’s watch so he can also find the escape hatch and follow Kamal Khan.

Bond uses this rather unique gadget to approach and leave Octopussy’s floating palace undetected. This craft shaped to look identical to a crocodile provides an ingenious way to travel through water when stealth was required.

Kamal Khan hires a couple of thugs to travel to Octopussy’s island and kill Bond. One of the people he hires is a thug with a metal cutting yo-yo with very sharp edges. The thug accompanied by a number of other men manage to infiltrate Octopussy’s island undetected. In position above Bond and Octopussy above their bed, Bond feels a single drop of water fall from the saw, giving him the vital seconds to move out the way. Vijay however is not so lucky, when Kamal orders his death by the saw.
