seagull snorkel suit
This rather novel gadget was simply a seagull on top of a specially designed snorkel to conceal it. James Bond uses this to enter a narcotics complex undetected. In a classic Bond moment, Bond throws the ridiculous contraption into the water and as he steps out of the water removes his dry suit, to reveal a perfectly dry white tuxedo complete with red carnation.
grappling hook gun
This gadget comes in handy when Bond wants to scare a large wall to enter the narcotics complex at the beginning of Goldfinger. Bond fires the gun sending a grappling hook shooting at high speed. Once the hook was in place a rope could be used to climb the obstruction.
gadgets in Q’s lab
A number of gadgets are seen in Q's lab in Goldfinger that were not used in the film itself. Q’s assistants are seem experimenting with a parking meter that sprays tear gas, and a Q technician being shot whilst wearing a bullet-proof jacket. When Q notices Bond looking at the coat, he comments worryingly "Oh, it’s not perfected yet!"
large and small homing devices
These two homing devices supplied by Q, enabled James Bond to follow Goldfinger's car from a distance. The larger homing device had a range of 150 miles and Bond could follow its movements in his specially modified Aston Martin DB5 by accessing the display hidden behind the speaker vent. The smaller brother was magnetic and could be hidden inside the heel of Bond's shoe. He tries to send a message to Felix Leiter using the smaller homing device, but the message never arrives as the homing device gets crushed when Oddjob drives his car into a scrap yard after killing Mr. Solo, with the homer in his pocket.
Oddjob’s bowler hat
This hat doesn't look much to the naked eye but in the hands of Oddjob it was deadly. The inside of the hat was steel rimmed and with great precision and accuracy Oddjob threw his hat at his targets slicing their throat. Oddjob uses his hat three times in the film, firstly to demonstrate to Bond on a stone statue then to kill Tilly Masterson and finally to try and kill Bond inside Fort Knox.
Goldfinger’s laser
While lasers are used in everything from CD players to barcode scanners today, things were very different in 1964. Goldfinger’s laser therefore was seen as a revolutionary idea. Although the actual laser beam was added in optically later, a technician burning the metal from underneath the table using a blowtorch created the laser effect. Understandably, Sean Connery is not just acting as the laser becomes increasingly close to rather important areas!
Goldfinger’s golden pistol
When Operation Fort Knox starts to go awry, Goldfinger removes his coat to reveal a General’s uniform and takes out a gold-plated revolver. He then proceeds to shoot Red Chinese agent Mr. Ling to convince the incoming troops he is on their side.
