Miss Moneypenny played by Samantha Bond appears in four James Bond films from Goldeneye up to and including Die Another Day. In Goldeneye Moneypenny enjoys taunting Bond, playing hard-to-get, telling him she was enjoying a date with a gentleman before being called into the office.
The pleasure is all Moneypenny's when she interrupts Bond in the middle of his passionate rendezvous with Danish lecturer Professor Inga Bergstrom. Moneypenny also accompanies M and Bond in transit where she gives Bond identity papers, and further flirtations.
Miss Moneypenny continues her flirtations with Bond in The World Is Not Enough, seductively replying “I know exactly where to put that", when Bond hands her a cigar, before placing it in the bin, leading Bond to comment “Ah, Moneypenny the story of our relationship, close but no cigar." Moneypenny finally gets the object of her desire in Die Another Day; she successfully seduces Bond as the pair end up on her desk. However, Q then interrupts Moneypenny's 'testing' of the virtual realty machine causing much embarrassment!
The aptly named Samantha Bond takes on the role of Miss Moneypenny excellently. At first in Goldeneye she seems to enjoy Bond's flirtations and while she does not encourage him, she does play along. As the films progress, Moneypenny develops excellently delivering a number of worthy double entendres herself. Moneypenny seems wise to Bond's habitats and advises M that Bond's previous relationship with Paris Carver in Tomorrow Never Dies might be useful.
Miss Moneypenny is wise to Bond's tricks and makes a number of quips when Dr Molly Warmflash reportedly clears Bond for duty in The World Is Not Enough. While Miss Moneypenny does not appear that much in Die Another Day, she does provide one of the best laughs in the film, proving she still has feelings for Bond, when she is caught in the virtual reality machine. §
