The Guggenheim Museum is seen in the background during the pre-credit sequence of The World Is Not Enough when Bond visits the Swiss banker Mr Lachaise.

History

Designed by Frank Gehry, the Guggenheim Museum first opened in October 1997. Created in part to bring back life to the surrounding area, it has become the main tourist attraction in Bilbao. With only one permanent exhibition, the museum features frequently changing works of art, which not surprisingly, are focused on the Avant-garde and modern fields of art.

Insider tips/trivia

The museum is closed on Mondays for most of year apart from July and August.
