City Hall in San Francisco

location information

Perhaps once of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the world, the City Hall has the fifth largest dome in the world. Covering over two city blocks, the City Hall has had a difficult history. Initally built in 1874, City Hall reopened in 1916 when the old Hall was destroyed in an earthquake. Forced to close in 1995 after another earthquake in 1989, City Hall re-opened once more in 1999 at a cost of nearly $300 million.

bond connections

While Bond investigates Max Zorin, he pays Mr Howe a visit at City Hall. After his meeting, he spots Stacey Sutton the woman he met previously at Zorin's estate. Later in the film City Hall plays a key role when Bond and Stacey discover the location of Zorin's plans, and then gets set alight! Well, almost. In the dramatic scenes that follow, the audience is lead to believe that City Hall is actually burning when large gas tanks in front of the building simulate the building alight.

location directions

City Hall is located on Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place. The nearest Bart and Muni station is the Civic Center station. §
