This handy device would allow the user to breath underwater for approximately four minutes. This device would save Bond's life a number of times throughout Thunderball. Most importantly Bond uses it when he is trapped in Emilio Largo's shark pool. Unable to reach the surface, he uses the breather to escape through an underwater tunnel to another pool. At the end of the film he uses it once again after he has dropped of his underwater propulsion unit at the bottom of the sea.
