Bond attaches these mines to a number of barrels of flammable liquid in Alec Trevelyan's base at the end of the film. When Bond is captured, he has the remote operated mine armed with the button on his Omega watch. Knowing about Q gadgetry, Alec tells Bond "Still press here?", and thus deactivates the mine. However when Boris Grishenko starts playing with the explosive parker pen, and drops it whilst still armed, Bond sees his opportunity and throws it into the liquid. §
