Another gadget Q provides Bond with is this normal looking leather belt. Q demonstrates to Bond that this belt contained a length of ultra thin strong wire under the buckle. This could be fired out and had been tested to support the weight of one person, something Q is keen to emphasise.
Bond uses the belt in the middle of the film when he is trying to escape the Russian archives with Natalya Simonova. While Natalya falls through an opening in the floor, straight into the Russian guards, Bond uses the belt to swing across some bookcases, and out a window. §
