Profile

Vargas appears in a number of scenes throughout the film, and is usually either following Bond, or accompanying Emilio Largo.

Vargas meets a nasty end when he silently approaches Dominique Derval and Bond lying on a beach, armed ready to kill. Domino calmly comments "Vargas is behind you" where Bond slowly but smoothly picks up his spear gun. As Vargas is about to shoot, Bond spins round and shoots him, impaling him on a tree. He then wryly quips "I think he got the point".

About

The mysterious Vargas clad in black sunglasses and wearing black clothes is the right-hand man of Largo. This silent sadistic killer has no emotion and no mercy. A deadly assassin who thoroughly enjoys his daily job of kidnapping, murdering and torturing so much so that even Largo dislikes.

He is responsible for many kidnappings and murders at the orders of Largo or Fiona Volpe. It is also Vargas that enjoys kidnapping Paula Caplan from Bond's apartment. §
