Benicio Del Toro playing Dario
Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on 19th February 1967
Starred In Licence To Kill (1989)
Dario played by Benicio Del Toro is the second villain of Licence To Kill. Dario assists Franz Sanchez when he travels to collect his mistress Lupe Lamora in the pre-title sequence.
Found in bed with another man, Sanchez asks Lupe did the man promise her his heart, at which he tells Dario to give her his heart. While Sanchez then whips Lupe Lamora the man’s screams are heard off-screen.
On the evening of Felix Leiter’s wedding Sanchez breaks into his house and after beating up Felix, Dario kills Felix’s wife, Della. Felix is taken to Milton Krests marine research company where he is gruesomely fed to a shark while Dario eagerly watches.
Later in the film when Bond meets with Pam Bouvier, Dario appears and during Bond and Pam’s escape, shoots her in back. Luckily wearing bulletproof protection, Pam survives unknown to Dario.
Bond is exposed when Dario spots him when he visits Sanchez’s drugs processing plant. Hanging on by mere threads of rope above a nasty slicing and dicing machine, Dario slowly cuts through Bonds rope binding his hands. Interrupted by the ‘ghostly’ figure of Pam Bouvier, Dario is shot by Pam and sent down the conveyor straight into the vicious machine meant for Bond.
After being expelled by the Nicaraguan Contras for being too violent, Dario is now in the employment of Sanchez where he uses his trusty knife to perform some brutal attacks. Sinister and menacing, Dario is an intimidating character with an evil grin as well as a murderous personality. §
