Profile
After Gustav Graves parachutes in front of Buckingham Palace, Miranda Frost is introduced as Graves' publicist.
Bond later meets Miranda at a London fencing club where after a sword fight, Graves invites Bond to Iceland. She is then later seen when M is briefing her, as more about her past history is revealed.
It is not until Graves' ice palace that Miranda appears once again, escorting Bond and Giacinta 'Jinx' Johnson to Graves' presentation of Icarus.
When Bond is later looking around the outside of Graves' complex, he is seen by a guard that attracts the attention of Graves' men. Miranda appears and pulls 007 aside as she pretends that they are lovers to distract the guards. Miranda follows Bond back to his icy bedroom, where they spend the night. In the morning Bond discovers Graves' and Miranda's true identities when he realises they are working together. By using Q's single digit sonic agitator unit, Bond manages to escape Graves' hideout before getting into the car chase with Zao.
Bond and Jinx later board Graves' Antonov where whilst Bond confronts Graves, Jinx takes on the sword bearing Miranda. It is Jinx's streetwise ability using knifes and Miranda's over-confidence, that causes her death when she gets stabbed in the chest, ironically with a copy of Sun Tzu's 'Art of War'.
About
Miranda Frost is at the heart of the films main twists. She appears to be working for Graves at the start of the film as his publicist. However as the film progresses, it becomes clear she is a MI6 agent when she gets her briefing from M. Miranda a cryptologist and Olympic gold-medal fencing champion, volunteers for the mission to investigate Graves.
Her true identity is revealed when Graves tells Bond that it was Miranda who was the traitor in MI6 that set him up in North Korea. Graves also reveals that he set up an overdose for the true gold medal winner at the Olympics, earning him the loyalty of a MI6 agent.
Despite her excellent swordplay with Jinx, she makes the fatal mistake of making a small speech when she thinks she has the upper hand over Jinx, the downfall of any villain, leading to her death.
Only 23 at the time of Die Another Day, Rosamund Pike plays the part of Miranda Frost well, despite the tradition that younger actresses have had varying degrees of success. §
