Profile

Maud Adams returns to play the role of Octopussy in the film of the same name. Octopussy is seen for the first time when Kamal Khan visits the floating palace, a luxurious island full of beautiful women all part of the Octopussy cult.

After Bond escapes Kamal's jungle hunt, he pays Octopussy a visit. She introduces herself and seems very friendly towards Bond. It is learnt that 20 years earlier he had been sent to bring her father back for a court marshal, but allowed him to commit suicide rather than face the charges for murder and theft.

Bond spends a few nights with Octopussy before she has to go to Europe where she is taking the Octopussy circus, a front for jewellery smuggling partnered with Kamal. She also appears in a number of other scenes in and around the Octopussy train.

Octopussy then appears towards the end of the film, where Bond informs her that she has been double crossed by Kamal, and the jewellery has been replaced with an atomic bomb. Bond, Octopussy and Q then head to India where they kill Kamal and Gobinda. Bond and Octopussy then end the film by sailing into the sunset.

About

Octopussy is certainly in a position of power. She has her own heavily guarded island, the floating palace in which only women are allowed. Octopussy trains the women and gives them a place in her various smuggling operations from circuses, carnivals, shipping and hotels.

Kamal appears to report to Octopussy, but he has he own plans about the jewellery smuggling operation. Octopussy and Bond seem to have a history and she believes that they are two of kind. She obviously knows Bond quite well when it comes to women, since when he is escorted to his room she informs one of her assistants to double the guard in his quarters.

Trivia

Maud Adams also plays the part of Andrea Anders in The Man With The Golden Gun .§
