As Koskov runs across the road to meet Bond and Saunders, Bond spots a sniper, Kara. Defying his orders to kill her, Bond shoots the rifle out of her hands only marginally injuring her.

Bond then helps Kara escape from the KGB in Bratislava and they head to Austria. After dealing with Saunders' death and meeting with Koskov in Tangier, Bond heads back to meet Kara. She is lead to believe that Bond is a KGB agent after talking to Koskov. Kara switches back to being Bond's ally after drugging his drink and realising what a fool she has been.

After escaping the Russian air force base in Afghanistan, Bond and Kara head off with Kamran Shah. After returning to the air force base with the help of Kamran's men, they leave in the Hercules. For her help in the mission, Kara is granted asylum in the west where her talents bloom.
