Paula Caplan portrayed by Martine Beswicke is first seen when Bond visits Nassau to meet Dominique Derval. Paula is a local Bahamian islander who along with Pinder is Bonds native contacts on the island.

Whilst reading magazines in her hotel room waiting for Bond, Fiona Volpe arrives and Largos men take her captive.

Bond makes an attempt to rescue Paula but when he gets there she has already committed suicide by taking cyanide.

Character information

Paula Caplan is an attractive local woman who helps Bond with his investigations. Unusually, there is no element of the two being lovers, although they could of been a possibility if she had lived longer.

Martine Beswicke also played the part of Zora in From Russia With Love one year earlier. Martine Beswicke enjoyed playing her role of Paula Caplan especially when director Terence Young > told her to sunbathe more to top up her tan for the part! §
