When Bond pays a visit to Réne Mathis at his new Italian villa, he encounters Gemma. When she starts to pour some wine for Mathis, he tells her not to give Bond any since he was the man who had him captured and tortured. Amusingly she tells Mathis (in Italian) that he only buys cheap wine anyway, and besides since he was proven innocent, MI6 gave him the Italian villa as compensation. Consequently in affect Mathis actually owes Bond, something Bond subtly smiles at. Mathis then tells her to go and work on her tan, leading Bond to wryly comment "Retirement suits you Mathis".
About
Gemma is the girlfriend of Mathis. Since she knows about his involvement with MI6 and the recent troubles he has been through, she could be possible connected to the service as well. However with Gemma's limited on-screen time, sadly little else is learnt about the character.
