Magda played by Kristina Wayborn is the first Bond Girl of Octopussy. James Bond notices her at the auction of the Fabergé egg and excitingly says to Jim Fanning "Now there is a lady".
Magda appears again when Bond travels to India. Whilst in the hotel casino Bond offers Magda a drink that she declines, Bond makes it clear that he has the real egg and leaves the casino winning 200,000 rupees. After a failed assassination attempt by Gobinda and a visit to Q, Bond returns to his hotel to find Magda waiting for a romantic dinner. Magda steals the egg the next morning after seducing Bond, a plan 007 allows, so he can follow its location.
Magda appears in a number of scenes later in the film. She is present when Bond is held captive at the Monsoon Palace and aboard the Octopussy circus train. Magda also plays a vital part in the attack on Kamal’s palace at the end of the film.
Magda is a gorgeous blond who simmers with sexuality. Part of Octopussy’s cult she is sent to seduce Bond to recover the Fabergé egg, something she does with ease. Extremely athletic and intelligent, Magda is also an expert pick-pocket a talent used in Octopussy’s circus whilst the main acts are running.
Kristina Wayborn is excellent as Magda, especially when her athletic prowess is demonstrated at the end of the film. §
