Captain Carter played by Shane Rimmer is the last ally of The Spy Who Loved Me. Bond and Anya get transported to the USS Wayne by helicopter where they board to further investigate The Liparus.

However The Liparus ‘swallows’ the USS Wayne when it forces it to the surface like the HMS Ranger. With the help of Captain Carter, Commander Talbot and other submarine crews, they are able to regain control of The Liparus. Carter manages to use the submarine tracking system to change the targets of the two nuclear missiles destroying both of the submarines controlled by Stromberg.

Captain Carter tells Bond later that he has immediate orders to destroy Stromberg’s lair Atlantis, but gives Bond an hour to rescue Anya held captive aboard. When Bond doesn’t return inside the time frame Captain Carter is forced to torpedo Atlantis sending it to the bottom of the ocean – with Bond and Anya escaping in Stromberg’s Escape Pod.
