After Mr White escapes from M and Bond in Sienna, Italy, they regroup back at MI6. Tanner, the forensics tech and treasury agent brief M in regards some tagged bills introduced into Le Chiffe's operation which highlights Edmund Slate as an interest.
Tanner appears in a number of other scenes in the film, first to find out what happened to Slate, then to identity the picture of Dominic Greene and find out further information. Later in the film he also advises M about the death of Mathis, and is present in Bonds hotel after Strawberry Fields is killed. M instructs Tanner to follow Bond after he leaves the hotel, telling him that despite the capture or kill order on him by the CIA and Gregg Beam he might be on to something.
About
After being played previously by Michael Kitchen, the character of Bill Tanner returns once again, and for the fourth time is played by a different actor. Tanner takes on the now standard role as Chief of Staff for MI6 and M's aide. As always there is some great interaction between M and Bond with some amusing moments. §
