After the disappearance of MI6 agent John Strangways in Jamaica, Bond is sent to meet fellow CIA agent Felix Leiter to co-operate in the investigation.
As future Bonds were to be introduced, Felix Leiter is initially shown to be a mysterious villainous character. After formal introductions, Leiter informs Bond about Strangways investigations into Dr No and Crab Key. Appearing in only a couple of small sequences through the film, Leiter returns in the finale to provide rescue for Bond and Honey Rider but realises they don't need rescuing.
About
The portrayal of Felix Leiter by Jack Lord is initially serious, when he first introduces himself to Bond. Held at gunpoint, Bond raises his hands when Leiter tells Bond "Easy bud, easy, lets not get too excited". After misunderstandings have been cleared up, Leiter is a friendly character, laid back and easy going. §
