Sharkey played by Frank McRae is the first ally of Licence To Kill. Felix Leiter, Sharkey and Bond are travelling down US State Highway 1 on route to Felix's wedding to Della Churchill in the Florida Keys.
However friends of Felix's at the DEA tell him that Sanchez is in the area. Felix and Bond leave Sharkey to explain what is going on to Della as they go off and chase after Sanchez. Sharkey is present at the reception and later assists Bond in the search for sharks. After investigating Milton Krest’s warehouse Bond is held at gunpoint by Ed Killifer. After braving the shark guarding the entrance, Sharkey appears and saves Bonds life. He opens the trapdoor Killifer is standing on making him hang on to a rope suspended over the shark pool. Sharkey later appears in a number of scenes, helping Bond with his investigations. However when Bond boards the WaveKrest he later looks out the window to discover Krests' men have killed Sharkey.

Sharkey is a deep-sea fisherman who is a close friend of Bond and Felix Leiter, who is also invited to his wedding as the best man. Sharkey earns his name from his interest in sharks, and seems to be knowledgeable about all things connected with them. Sharkey is a very friendly, warm and trustworthy friend and Bond is clearly upset when he finds out his has been killed. §
