Film information

Raoul played by Emilio Echevarria is the fourth ally of Die Another Day. After arriving in Cuba, Bond travels to meet Raoul at a cigar factory. After asking for a particular obsolete style of cigar, Bond is escorted to meet Raoul.

Once Bonds identity has been established, Bond and Raoul talk business. After throwing around some dollars, Raoul is able to tell Bond where Zao is receiving his gene therapy treatment. Raoul supplies Bond with a ‘fast car’ and some other equipment as Bond heads off to the coast. Returning to meet Raoul after Zao’s escape, Bond and Raoul come to the conclusion that the diamonds Bond has acquired come from Sir Gustav Graves’ mine.

Character information

Working as a sleeper agent for MI6 in Havana, Raoul is naturally cautious when he first meets Bond. However Bond is able to get Raoul to trust him and assures him Cuba will be much better off without Zao the terrorist. A chilled, laid back character, Raoul provides a very handy ally to Bond at a time where he is going it alone. Raoul seems more than willing to help Bond, and while the equipment he provides is by no means cutting edge, Bond greatly appreciates his kind support. §
