Profile
With the help of Marc Ange Draco, Bond is able to locate a lawyer by the name of Gumbold who is working on behalf of Blofeld, operating in Bern, Switzerland. When Bond breaks into Gumbold's office he goes to the window where he collects the safe cracker and photocopier unit, sent over on one of Draco's cranes from the construction site opposite by Campbell. Bond uses the machine to gain entry to Gumbold's safe and photocopy some documents, placing the machine back in the crane just before Gumbold returns.
When Bond meets Irma Bunt in his guise as Sir Hilary Bray, Campbell is assigned the job of following Bond to make sure he doesn't require any assistance. He follows Bond, but cannot go any further when Bond takes a helicopter ride up to Piz Gloria. Campbell attempts to bluff his way up to the facility using the cable car, but is stopped by Grunther. With no choices left, Campbell later climbs the mountain reaching Piz Gloria, where is detained and eventually killed as a warning to Bond and others.
About
Campbell is a MI6 agent assigned to assist Bond. His efforts to bluff his way onto the cable car don't seem very thought out, and appear to be quite obvious. With little choice he does a good job in climbing up to Piz Gloria, but gets caught when he disturbs some birds marking his position. Still keeping with the bluff he is a tourist once caught, he appears to do little to escape. Due to the characters limited on-screen time and dialogue, little else is learnt. §
