Kamran Shah played by Art Malik is the final ally of The Living Daylights. After arriving at the Afghanistan Airforce base, James Bond and Kara Milovy are escorted to the base prison. After overthrowing the guards, Bond throws the prison keys to Kamran Shah who is locked in one of the cells.
As Bond and Kara make their escape over the bases perimeter electric fence, men who think they are Russian set upon them. Kamran Shah who is following behind informs the men, his companions, that they are not Russians.
When Bond, Kara and Kamran Shah return to his palace, he introduces himself. The next day Bond and Kara accompany Kamran Shah and his men on their mission. With the help of Shah, Bond is able to board a truck loaded with opium returning back to the airbase. Bond manages to steal the Hercules laden with opium when Kamran’s men appear and take control of the base. Bond returns the favour by blowing up the bridge providing the only access point to Kamran's settlement; the destruction of the bridge sends pursuing Russian tanks plummeting to the ground below. In the final sequence of the film, Kamran and his men appear at Kara’s show to wish her congratulations.

Oxford educated Kamran Shah is the deputy commander of the Eastern district for the Afghan resistance - the mujaheddin. Shah repays Bonds help in saving his life, by providing a place of safety, plastic explosives and his help in overthrowing General Georgi Koskov’s airbase. Kamran Shah proves an interesting character that is friendly, subtlety comical and very resourceful. Kamran Shah also has dealings with opium smugglers - the Snow Leopard Brotherhood. §
